Welcome to the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH). We hope that you will enjoy working with us and that you find your work here interesting and rewarding.
RFMH is a private, not-for-profit corporation organized in 1952 for the purpose of conducting and directing the conduct of studies, teaching, training and research in all areas of mental disabilities. It is governed by a Board of Directors, which is responsible for formulating and implementing its operational policies. While affiliated with the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene, it is not a State agency.
Since its inception, RFMH has been the recipient of millions of dollars in grant funds and has been involved in the conduct of hundreds of pioneering projects, many of which have led to important breakthroughs in the care and treatment of mentally disabled persons. We are proud of this tradition and recognize that our success is the result of the dedication and hard work of our employees.
This handbook is a brief summary of important RFMH policies and employee benefits. It is designed to acquaint you with RFMH, but not as a definitive all-inclusive statement of all of our policies and procedures. Policies can be changed by the Board of Directors and you will be notified of any changes as they occur. Detailed descriptions of the policies contained herein are available for review in the RFMH Personnel/Payroll Offices.
This handbook is not to be construed as a contract of employment. You and RFMH both have the right to terminate employment with or without cause and without notice at any time.
